Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce optional
  • Salt to taste

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Silicone spatula
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Basting brush
  • Glass storage jar

Method

  1. Add honey, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to a small saucepan.
  2. Place over medium-low heat and stir to combine all ingredients.
  3. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sugar fully dissolves - about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring often, until the glaze thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  5. Add hot sauce if using. Taste and adjust - more honey for sweetness, more vinegar for tang.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in butter until fully melted and the glaze is smooth and glossy.
  7. Let rest 5 minutes before using as a glaze, dipping sauce, or storing in a jar.
